2Both hands only move together - not separatelyDec 22, 2007
I bought this for my two year old who has a fascination with clocks currently. She thinks it is nice, but I am not pleased. This page says, "Child can move hands to tell time", but this isn't fully true. The hands are permanently in the position you see in the picture. You can turn the center and both hands move together (which makes a clicking sound). For instance, it can say 12:30 or 1:35 or 2:40, but since the hands cannot move independantly this cannot really be used to help a child learn how to tell time....which was the only reason why I was willing to buy a plushie clock when my child already has enough stuffed animals. Also, the "ticking sound" and the "rings" are only activated by pushing that spot that sticks up between the two "bells". It ticks a little and then rings and that is it. Personally I'm glad it doesn't do more, but I'm not glad that you cannot turn it off or remove or replace the battery without actually ripping the thing open. Also, that "button" for making it briefly tick and ring is very hard to press if you don't do it just right (because it is down in the fluff of the stuffing and not on top) and so my toddler get frustrated because she can't get it to ring on most tries. It is purchases like this that makes me think I shouldn't buy things online.
