This kitty enabled me to pull off a great piece of street theatre. My Mother recently moved to a nursing home and I inherited her cat. The cat and I do not get along. I told my nurse at the wound care center I attend of my many cat adventures. She was fascinated, amazed, horrified at the stunts the cat pulled. I offered the cat to her, she politely and quickly refused. Finding out that her birthday approached, I set up the scam. I got a couple of cans of cat food, a litter box strainer, and purchased the Gund kitty. The kitty will make nice meows when her tail is pinched, these quickly turn into fright night screams, and she sounds just like my cat! I put Gund kitty, supplies into a large duffle, carried into the wound care center with me. I made a presentation, telling the 10 employees gathered round of my admiration for Nurse Shirley, her attention to my care and how I wanted to reward her for her service. I told her "you will need these," the cat food and scoop, then I reached into the bag and squeezed the tail button. The kitty began a series of meows, as I reached into the bag I jerked back and hollered "don't bite me," as the kitty began to screech. The supervisor offered to hold the bag as I pulled the kitty out and turned to Shirley whose eyes were the proverbial saucers, she knew she was about to receive a gift of a cat she REALLY did not want. It took her a minute to realize the Gund kitty was not real, as the staff broke out in laughter which lasted on through the next hour!
I do not know if the kitty would hold up under the constant use and abuse of children, but I consider her a real treasure, just like Nurse Shirley!
