A teddy to withstand the test of time...Sep 23, 2007
Ty Griddles - Brown Bear
This authentic Classic TY Bear will not only withstand the test of time, but will probably "bear," many a tearful, sick, or scared super-snuggle. It can withstand some dragging, pulling at the arms, and probably will live through the dog mistakingly thinking it is her new toy. The only caveat I have about this classic bear is that you will probably want more than one!

My daughter got this as a gift from a family friend when she was six months old. At first, she didn't give it much attention. Then over the next few months, it grew on her. One day while looking at the bear, she made the sound "awa". So we followed her lead and began calling the bear "Awa". That is how she has referred to the teddy bear from then on.
My now 22-month-old toddler cannot be anywhere without her Awa. She has to have him in the car, in her crib, while taking a nap, etc. If she is in a grouchy mood and gets a hold of Awa, she immediately calms down.
I know Ty says on the tag that you should only surface wash their plush toys, but my daughter has gotten the bear dirty on enough occasions to the point that we had to put him in the washing machine. Needless to say, he is not in the same condition as before (hair is matted down and he's not as soft), but that doesn't matter. She loves him just as he is today.
My husband and I decided to order a clone of the bear to keep in our house (perhaps limited to my toddler's crib) so it will be kept in a more pristine condition over time. Then she'll have the original one to bring in the car for outings and on trips. I would have never guessed she'd love this bear as much as she does. So soft and cuddly, and who can't resist the endearing look on his face that makes you want to cuddle him?

My son will not go anywhere without this bear. I bought four so that he will have one at all times and after 2 years of carrying, no ... dragging, this thing everywhere it still has it's eyes and all it's fur... although a bit more loved than when new. I thought I would need to toss one after a few months and replace it with a spare but not neccasary. I was able to keep one in a bag brand new so that someday when he is older he will have one that is pristine. Who know, maybe he will have a son one day and be able to relive his childhood through sharing the same bear he had as a kid. Ty is a "sturdy" bear and safe... nothing comes off except the tag. (I know, sacrilege.)
